Background of the School
Lamu Girls Secondary school is a girl’s boarding school located in Lamu West sub-county in Coast region , Kenya. The school was established in 1974 through the community effort. It was started as a Harambee secondary school. The school is situated on a seven acres land. The school was started to enable the children from the neighboring primary school access secondary education as there was no girls’ secondary school within the Amu island.
It has a favorable catchment area with few primary schools. Most people who neighbor the school are farmers with average income. The payment of fees is a challenge that is gradually being overcome. The school is community friendly and vice versa. The school has a favorable communication network either from Nairobi, Mombasa or Garissa.
